The Edmonton Oilers are in the playoffs. The final six games of the regular season will determine where they finish in the Pacific Division.
They play the San Jose Sharks Thursday night at Rogers Place. Both teams have 93 points, two behind first place Anaheim. The Ducks take on Winnipeg Thursday and then will be in Edmonton Saturday.
“We’re feeling good about what we’ve accomplished so far and clinching a playoff spot, but we know there’s still a lot at stake,” said winger Milan Lucic. “Just because you clinch, doesn’t mean you can let it get good to you and take your foot off the gas.”
Defenceman Matt Benning is expected to return to action after missing Tuesday’s win over Los Angeles. He took a shot off the right knee in the third period on Saturday against Colorado.
“It was a bit frightening in the sense that my leg kind of went numb a little bit. I didn’t really know what happened. Then when I tried to move it, it kind of seized up,” Benning recalled.
The Oilers expected lineup is:
Maroon – McDavid – Draisaitl
Lucic – Nugent-Hopkins – Eberle
Pouliot – Desharnais – Kassian
Caggiula – Letestu – Slepyshev
Sekera – Russell
Klefbom – Larsson
Nurse – Benning
The Oilers and Sharks are on 630 CHED with the Face-off Show at 5:30pm. The game starts at 7pm. (jrw)
