If you’re keeping track, this is the third time I am thanking the NDP for listening to the people and offering to fix a long-time problem.
I’m talking about that railway crossing on 50th street.
It causes commuters a lot of grief during rush hour and it’s in the budget.
I guess it’s not totally the railway’s fault, I could have left an hour early just in case.
You see some vehicles make a U-turn and speed off in the other direction.
Ever see a train stop, and back up and then go forward again? I can almost hear people in the other cars, saying, dejectedly, “Oh, no…really?” as they look at the time, again.
I get phone calls from you fed up with the wait and asking me to call the railway and ask why they cannot do this overnight.
They have the right of way and must continue to operate on a certain schedule, so they can look after their customers, just like you look after yours. They did apologize for any inconvenience.
Projects like this can take years to complete.
So, if this gets off the ground, or goes under it, or they re-route the railway or the roadway , when it’s done, I sincerely hope they invite the NDP to the ribbon cutting.
Let me know what you think about all of this.
