Today, I’m hearing more about the three little words that warm your heart. No, not “I love you.”
Provincial sales tax.
Oh, did I say warm your heart? I meant heart-burn.
As Alberta tries to find its way out of the deficit hole, those nasty three words keep coming up.
Recently, it was Alberta Party leader, Greg Clark, uttering what many consider to be a provincial profanity.
Now, an economist at the U of A is telling the Edmonton Journal that Alberta needs to have a “long, hard look at those three dirty words.
A PST would wrench billions from our hands, but some say we already have one, it’s the carbon tax hidden in an NDP hoodie.
Some say the carbon tax is really a sales tax on steroids and they already have too much KD in their diet.
With so many Albertans out of work or underemployed and struggling to make ends meet would a PST ever happen?
With many already convinced the NDP will never see another term in office, a PST would be the final nail in their coffin.
Some say rather than a sales tax, the NDP should learn to control spending, or, as the saying goes, “When you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.”
Let me know what you think about a sales tax.
