The 2016 season is over for the Edmonton Eskimos. Trying to be the first team to advance to the Grey Cup game via a cross over playoff spot the Eskimos fell short with a 35-23 loss to the RedBlacks in the Eastern Final in Ottawa on Sunday.
The Eskimos dug themselves a hole early in the game. They did not seem to adapt to the snow covered windswept field as well as the RedBlacks did and Ottawa built a 17-3 lead at the half and stretched that to 25-3 before the Eskimos got going. Two Touchdowns from Adarius Bowman and one from Chris Getzlaf made it close getting it to just a five point deficit at 28-23. A touchdown run from Kienan Lafrance with a minute to go sealed a second straight trip to the Grey Cup for Ottawa.
The Eskimos traveled home post game on Sunday and will begin the off season with their locker room clean up early in the week.
Ottawa will travel to Toronto to play in the Grey Cup game.
