Edmonton’s gaming community is once again coming together in support of the Stollery Children’s Hospital, and they’re enjoying their favourite pastime while they do it.
Extra Life is an international charity where participants collect pledges for a 24-hour gaming marathon in support of local children’s hospitals.
Extra Life Edmonton organizer Ramin Ostad said this year, Edmonton’s pledge drive and game-a-thon taking place at the Mayfield Toyota Ice Palace, thanks to a donation of space from West Edmonton Mall.
“We’ll be having a little over 200, 250 people, around there,” said Ostad, “all gaming together in the Ice Palace with consoles, and computers, and board games, and whatever people want to game with for the whole night.”
Last year, his team bested their $50,000 goal by $18,000. This year, the fundraising goal is $60,000.
Extra Life goes from 12:00pm Saturday until 12:00pm Sunday. (ms, twd)
