Craig Anderson made 37 saves as his Ottawa Senators blanked the Edmonton Oilers 2-0 Sunday night at Rogers Place.
Anderson returned to the Sens on Saturday night after taking a leave of absence. His wife, Nicholle, has been diagnosed with cancer. Anderson improves to 10-5-1 with five shutouts in his career against the Oilers.
The Oilers winning streak ends at five. Their record stands at 7-2-0.
Cam Talbot was strong in net again for the Oilers, but he was beaten on a close-in shot by Mike Hoffman at 12:18 of the second period. Bobby Ryan added an empty net goal in the final minute.
The Oilers had three power plays in the first period but couldn’t capitalize. They had another man advantage with just under ten minutes left but again couldn’t muster a goal.
The Oilers open a five-game road trip Tuesday in Toronto. (jrw)
