Edmonton Oilers goaltender Cam Talbot has been named the NHL’s First Star of the Week.
Talbot finished the week with a 3-0 record. He capped off the week with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Jets on Sunday in the Heritage Classic.
Talbot made 96 saves on 99 shots he faced in wins over Carolina, St. Louis, and Winnipeg. That’s good for a 1.00 GAA and a .970 save percentage.
Talbot beat out Blackhawks centre Artem Anisimov and Red Wings defenceman Mike Green.
It’s the second straight week an Oiler has been named First Star by the NHL. Connor McDavid took home the award in week one. (bu)
