The Eskimos began their bye week on the right foot Monday afternoon in Montreal defeating the Alouettes 40-20 at Molson Stadium on Thanksgiving Day.
A solid all round performance for the Green and Gold, who took control in the 2nd half outscoring the Als 24-9 to blow open a close 16-11 game at the half. Mike Reilly threw 2 TD passes and ran one in himself while throwing for 346 yards in the Eskimos third straight win. Reilly went over the 5,000 yard mark in passing and stays on pace to hit 6,000 for the season. 2008 was the last time an Eskimos QB threw for over 5000 yard when Ricky Ray accomplished it, no Eskimos QB has ever thrown for 6,000 yards. Brandon Zylstra with his first CFL TD and Chris Getzlaf were on the other end of Reilly’s TD passes. John White had two TDs on the ground and 145 yards rushing.
Montreal falls to 4 and 10 on the season, the Eskimos are now 8 and 7, and two points back of both BC and Winnipeg for 2nd and 3rd in the West. The Eskimos could finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the CFL West but at the very least have all but assured themselves of a cross over spot into the playoffs.
The Eskimos will enjoy the bye week and return to action on October 22nd in Vancouver.
