Sexual assault and child luring charges have been laid against a former Calgary politician.
A teenage girl says she met the suspect through social media, where he described himself as a 34-year-old man — named George.
The underage girl told police they began communicating via a cellphone app, and then met in Airdrie on the 14th of September, where she says she was sexually assaulted.
RCMP Inspector Gordon Sage says they decided to begin an undercover operation in order to obtain more evidence.
“Investigations were able to identify a suspect as 45-year-old Terrance Lo of Calgary,” explained Sage. “On September 21st, he was arrested by the RCMP in a restaurant in Airdrie where he did resist arrest, but was eventually detained without further incident.”
Lo has been charged with two counts of child luring, sexual assault, sexual interference, obtaining sexual services for consideration, invitation to sexual touching, abduction, and resisting arrest; all under the Criminal Code of Canada.”
He’s expected to be in court on the 6th of October.
Lo had previously run as an Alberta Party candidate in Calgary-Glenmore, but was forced to resign from the party before the election took place after an inappropriate joke he had posted online. (QR/Global News/td)
