It’s the week after the trial before and you have a lot of Vader questions.
Mostly, it’s “How could he be convicted on a section of the Criminal Code that no longer exists?”
Because it’s still before the courts, under appeal, the Crown cannot comment, but you can.
Shannon wants to know why this case was special enough to warrant being televised. She thought all murder victims were special.
And, so they are, Shannon, but this case had a lot of elements not found in other cases, and it seemed the most likely one to open the door for cameras in court, given the huge public interest.
A retired EPS detective tells me he has never had confidence in our courts, many decisions have left him mortified, and this latest mess that makes things even more horrible for the McCann family, further cements his disgust.
Fred emails to say he expects after a certain socially acceptable time in jail, maybe just a few years, Vader will be back among us.
And, the big thing people seem to want to talk about is how much this investigation and trial has cost so far, and how Vader’s defense team gets paid.
