Imagine if you were the judge in the Travis Vader murder case.
All of your years of experience would be put to the test sorting out what is real and what is imagined and what is too circumstantial and what is believable and what you can accept beyond a reasonable doubt.
Like, how did his DNA get into that SUV? Was he in it or did he just sneeze as he walked by?
And, yes, the McCann’s are missing, but, as the defence asks, what proof is there that they are actually dead?
There is no murder weapon on the evidence table.
Justice Denny Thomas is in the middle of a legal tug of war, with the crown pulling him one way and the defense pulling the other.
Some evidence will be acceptable; some will not meet the test.
Vader did not take the stand to explain any of this, but then he doesn’t have to.
It will be riveting radio to hear the judge this morning go through the evidence and say yes or no to each piece.
You can hear starting at 10:00 on 630 CHED, or watch it live at 630 ched.com.
When it’s over, let me know what you think.
