We’re hearing a lot about Robin Camp, the man who will be known forever, as the “knees together” judge.
The issue now is whether he should be removed from the bench.
When I first heard about this, it took me back to my early days of broadcasting in the 1970’s.
I remember reporting on the judge in one sexual assault case where the complainant was a woman in her late twenties. The judge opined that “Women don’t get much brains before they are 30.”
And then we carried the story about the judge who said “Only whores wear red shoes.” Turned out a female lawyer in the case was wearing red shoes.
Are some of those old attitudes still lurking in the courtroom shadows?
If Robin Camp says he needs more education in handling sexual assault cases, are there others on the bench with the same unspoken concerns?
Camp’s lawyer says there are other judges who seek to improve themselves.
Regardless of whether Camp is dismissed, maybe some of his colleagues would welcome a mid-term exam.
Let me know what you think should happen.
