A suspect left seriously injured during an arrest in Calgary, has left four police officers under investigation.
Police say officers stopped a vehicle on July 30th, but the driver ran and was then eventually caught by officers on foot.
But in-car camera footage from one of the police cruisers, along with the suspect’s injuries, raised concerns about the conduct of some of the officers.
Deputy Police Chief Paul Scott says the four officers in question were not the only ones at the scene.
“As you can appreciate some of the officers will be witness officers and others — the four — are subject officers; there were several officers that responded to that call,” explained Scott.
When pressed, he put the number at “less than a dozen.”
The investigation has been taken over by ASIRT, the province’s police watch dog.
In the meantime, two of the officers in question have been relieved of their duties with pay, with the other two officers shifted to administrative work. (td)
