The rain forced the Eskimos inside Monday as the team started their preparations for the Saskatchewan Roughriders who come to the Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium on Friday night.
In the Eskimos 46-23 win over the Argonauts running back Calvin McCarty recorded 99 yards from scrimmage filling in for an injured John White who recorded 88 yards from scrimmage before leaving the game in the second quarter.
McCarty says he enjoyed taking on a larger role as the featured back and understands he takes on a lot of responsibilities.
Head coach Jason Maas has the pleasure of coaching McCarty now but also had the role of teammate during the end of his playing days with the Eskimos from 2008 to 2010. He says McCarty is a special player.
White is listed as day-to-day, if he can’t play on Friday Shakir Bell will receive his first start of the season. Good news for the Eskimos is receiver Nate Coehoorn practiced Monday after leaving Saturday’s game with an injured shoulder.
Kick-off on The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium is 8pm, 630 CHED will have the pre-game show at 6pm.
