***Warning: The following contains descriptions of violent crime that some people might find disturbing***
Escaped convict Darrel Peter Moosomin was allegedly spotted at around 4:00 Friday morning in the area that he was last seen on August 13th.
Maskwacis RCMP responded to the area but returned to the station empty handed, finding no trace of the violent criminal.
His crimes are the stuff of nightmares, and the 54 year old Moosomin remains at large after walking away from an escorted visit to the Sampson Powwow in Maskwacis on August 13th. Parole documents released last week indicate he’s had a long and violent criminal career with more than 70 convictions for crimes such as assault, sexual assault and forcible confinement.
Global News has confirmed it was in 1994 that he was convicted of holding a woman and torturing her for eight hours. The victim showed signs of the brutal attack all over her body with the parole board telling Moosomin, “you injured your victim in the groin area and sewed her up without anesthetic.”
He also once beat an ex girlfriend’s brother so badly that one of the victim’s legs had to be amputated. Moosomin admits to believing his victims are his property. A number of victim impact statements show that Moosomin continues to inflict fear upon his victims by continuing to contact them from prison.
This dangerous offender is first nations, stands five foot nine and weighs 216 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. If you’ve seen Darrell Peter Moosomin, you’re asked not to approach him, but instead to call 911 immediately.
