St. Albert and Slave Lake RCMP say they’ve had reports of a similar apparent scam in the past few weeks, and they’re out with a warning.
According to Mounties, two victims are out thousands of dollars after being offered an investment opportunity through a company calling itself “Option Giants,” which appeared to the connected to Global Health and Wellness Advisors. They were led to believe they were investing money in a company trading in foreign currencies, and they’d get a profitable return within 90 days.
In both instances, they made several wire transfers to the company. That money was ultimately wired outside of Canada, and could not be recovered.
Police say scammers and fraudsters use high-pressure tactics, and often sound very convincing. They remind you to do your homework before putting money into any investment, especially if they’re offering a huge return in a short amount of time. (scb)
