As the NDP continues to do more to realize their environmental dreams than any voter ever imagined, it’s interesting to talk with people about what they like and what they don’t like.
Many don’t like the carbon tax, but others think it’s the only fair way.
Some don’t like the coal-mining jobs being lost, but they don’t want coal-fired electricity.
How about nuclear power? Just opening that subject will bring you a world of controversy.
Home solar power is too expensive for most of us.
Wind power is better, right? Turbines. No pollution. A steady supply of wind in some places. Some environmentalists complain that birds and bats fly into wind turbines.
People living near those first towers of power complained about the constant loud humming sound. There are noise regulations, but they vary from province to province.
Protecting the birds is another issue, as is maintaining the turbines as they wear out.
If you’ve got a better environmental idea, it could be your ticket out of the rat race, but I’m betting some group won’t like it, although that may not matter if the NDP does.
Let me know what you think.
