RCMP have a man in custody, expected to face a judge on Sept. 7, and facing multiple charges on at least two different incidents. The only problem is, Police can’t identify him.
RCMP clarify that under Canadian law, charges can be laid without a name, as long as identity can be proven at trial, by other means such as DNA, fingerprints, witnesses, etc.
The ‘unknown man’ was arrested in Beaverlodge last on August forth, and faces numerous charges, after alleged crimes between Aug. 2 and Aug. 4.
Those charges include: break and enter, disguise with intent, trespassing at night, mischief under $5000, and two counts each of possession of property obtain by crime, resisting arrest, and obstructing a police officer.
The unknown suspect also faces five counts of arson, after a Grande Prairie home was set on fire back on July 24th. A family was inside of the home during the fire, but were able to escape.
Police believe the suspect may have ties to the Edmonton and Calgary areas.
Police are asking anyone who may be able to identify the suspect to contact Grande Prairie RCMP at 780-830-5700, or anonymously at Crime Stoppers, 1-800-222-8477. tl
