A 23-12 win over the Montreal Alouettes has ended a three game losing streak for the Eskimos. Mike Reilly threw for 300 yards and scored a touchdown on a one yard plunge to lead the way to the win. The Eskimos defence sealed the deal in the 4th quarter with late back to back interceptions by JC Sherritt and Deon Lacey. For Lacey his first career interception ended up in the end zone for a touchdown.
The Eskimos are now 3 and 4 on the season as they get set to head to Toronto for a game a week from Saturday. The Alouettes re now 2 and 5.
The totals for the Eskimos should have been higher, the Eskimos left a lot on the table, fumbling twice on the Als 1 yard line and the had one TD called back due to penalty. That allowed Montreal to stay close a lot longer in the game.
Esks head coach Jason Maas liked the way his team hung in through some adversity. “We fought, we battled, that’s what our team does” It was 13-12 Eskimos early in the 4th quarter before Sean Whyte kicked a field goal and Lacey scored a TD.
After playing this game on a short week, the Eskimos now get time rest and regroup as they head to Toronto for game number 8 in nine days time.
