A high-speed pursuit in central Alberta came an abrupt and scary end Friday night
The Mounties say it began with a report of a domestic assault in Penhold, south of Red Deer.
When officers arrived, they say they were confronted by a man brandishing a knife.
He then managed to flee the area in a vehicle, leading to the pursuit.
But it didn’t last long, with police saying the suspect slammed into the side of CP rail train after making a sharp turn off Highway 2A.
The vehicle caught fire as a result, but the suspect was pulled to safety by the pursuing officers.
A 35-year-old man from Bowden was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, with charges pending. (td)
