Two missing mini horses are safe behind a Parkland County fence after they were found by a friendly neighbour.
Amber Ziganash says she was frantic on Tuesday when she realized the gelding, Apollo, and the pregnant mare, Burberry, were missing.
“I went door to door since six o’clock in the morning, I woke people up.” says Ziganash. “I went all around my range road down and I talked to a nice guy who lives down over there. He said he’d keep an eye out and not even an hour later, he called me. They’d wandered into his yard.”
Ziganash is thankful to everyone who shared her Facebook post and helped her search. But she’s most thankful to the neighbour who found the pair.
“They were just happy to see them reunited with us.” she says. “Because we were crying and hugging them, and we just couldn’t believe we got them back.”
Besides being heavily pregnant Burberry has a bad hip and can barely walk, while Apollo is nearly blind. They were found two miles from where they went missing, and Ziganash is amazed at what must have been an epic journey for two very small horses.
“I don’t understand how they went that far. It doesn’t make sense.” she says.
In any case, she says the family will be making sure they don’t break out for any more road trips in the future. (ms)
