It will be three weeks before the man accused of murdering a young girl and her mother will be before a judge.
Edward Downey, 46, was scheduled to appear via CCTV in a Calgary courtroom this morning but the judge excused his appearance today and has adjourned the case until August 24th.
Downey’s lawyers are waiting for disclosure in the case.
He’s facing two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Taliyah Marsman, 5, and her mother, Sara Baillie, 34.
This comes after an amber alert was issued for Taliyah after Baillie was found dead in her Calgary home July 11th. The young girl was found dead a few days later just outside of city limits.
Downey has retained Hersh Wolch and his son Gavin Wolch, a pair of high-profile criminal lawyers, for his defence. (twd)
