If a postal stoppage happens bills won’t be coming to the mailbox, but that doesn’t mean the bills aren’t due.
That’s why the City of Edmonton is reminding everyone to connect with their bank, to make sure bills get paid, in case of a workers strike or Canada Post lockout.
“If you’ve received an electronic bill or if you have a previous paper statement, or if you know your payment is due, please go through your financial institution,” says Director of Treasury Management Douglas Aird. “Do that using online banking, telephone banking, using an app, or even in person, to make sure your account stays paid.”
Aird adds that certain tickets for breaking the law would be be held, until a postal stoppage is over.
“Bylaw and photo radar ticket mailings will be held for the duration of any disruption,” says Aird. “So the clock won’t start until those items are placed in the mail, after the disruption.”
Aird adds, anyone with questions should call 311. tl/km
