NAIT is reaching out to children from Fort McMurray evacuee families and children from Syrian refugee families.
Summer camps for those kids will be free at NAIT this year.
NAIT Manager of Student Recruitment and Events Erin Strilchuk says they want the kids to feel at home and have some fun in Edmonton.
“They’ll get the experience of getting to interact with other Edmonton children,” says Strilchuk. “Maybe they’ll learn some things about this community that they didn’t know, when they arrived, and hopefully they’ll be able to integrate, if they chose to stay in Edmonton.”
Strilchuk reminds parents that NAIT does not run overnight camps, so kids will need rides to-and-from NAIT.
Registry is now open. Camps run from July 4 to August 19. tl/djs/NAITsuppliedPhoto
