RCMP are looking for public assistance in the investigation over how exactly the devastating Fort McMurray wildfire was started.
Wood Buffalo RCMP say they have determined the blaze, which began 15 kilometres southwest of the city on May 1, was most likely the result of human activity. Lightning has been ruled out as a probable cause.
Mounties want to know if a criminal offence was involved in the ignition of the fire, as they have not confirmed exactly how it began. They’d like to speak with anyone who was in the popular Horse River Trail System between April 29th and May 5th.
If you think you may know something, you’re urged to call RCMP, toll free, at 1-844-620-9826, or Crime Stoppers. (scb)
