There will be no midway rides at this year’s rodeo weekend in Leduc.
The Leduc Black Gold Pro Rodeo Association says it’s due to a scheduling conflict.
Association President Dave Rock says the company slated to supply the midway rides, Wildrose Shows, is not coming after all.
Rock says they advised the midway contractor last fall that they needed to change the date of the rodeo this year from the last weekend in May, to the first weekend in June, to accommodate a graduation ceremony at the Leduc Recreation Centre.
He says, at the time, he was told by Wildrose Shows there was no problem with the change.
But Rock says the company suddenly pulled out of the Black Gold Rodeo last Sunday, apparently double-booked with another event that falls on the same weekend.
He says they’ve been unable to find a replacement midway company in time for this year’s rodeo, adding they’re now in talks with West Coast Amusements for next year’s event. (td)
