Residents of Edson, Hinton, Jasper and the Yellowhead County will no longer have to brave the highways to get to Calgary.
Starting on June 6th Integra Air will be offering flights to and from the city out of the Edson airport.
Edson CAO Mike Derricott isn’t concerned about the struggling economy. He believes it will have a positive effect on the flight service.
“These tough times have actually caused some changes of behavior in terms of oils and gas companies and how they move their people around. Some have gone from owning their own planes or chartering planes, to seeking more scheduled air options because in the end they’re more economical. I actually think the challenging times have provided an opportunity for Integra to access a market that four or five years ago was serviced by private planes either chartered or owned by the companies themselves.”
Integra represents a non-secured service, meaning there is no security screening when passengers board in Edson, any security checks will occur at the Calgary airport.
