 It's a sign that Christmas is just around the corner. Motorcycles flooded the streets of Edmonton Sunday for the 29th Annual 630CHED Santas Anonymous Toy Run.
The roar of motorcycles will likely be turning heads as they cruised from Capilano Mall to Hawrelak Park delivering the toys to the giant trailers set up.
Lana Nordlund with Santas tells 630CHED News around 5000 bikes and riders filled the parking lot in the hours leading to the ride.
"We've got that 53-foot trailer ready at Hawerlak Park to accept donations and we've got an alternate should we fill that trailer, so we're just keeping our fingers crossed," explains Nordlund. "This is a fantastic kick-start to the Santas program."
Nordlund says even if you're not on a bike you should come down and join in on the fun.
"There's a silent auction, there's food vendors and it's just so much fun at Hawrelak and the park is still a public place and is totally open," explains Nordlund. "It is surely a sight to see when you watch them come in."
If you didn't make it down to the event Nordlund says you can still help out. As Christmas approaches, donations, both monetary and toy, will be needed by the organization to ensure they brighten up the holiday for Edmonton's children in need.
"The items that kids can play with by themselves and if you are collecting a toy that takes batteries, please send along batteries," explains Nordlund. "We want to make sure that toy has so much play value for the child."
Nordlund says you can visit the Santas website to donate or text a $10 donation to SANTA at 45678.
The Santas warehouse is set to open November 12th and Nordlund says lots of volunteers for wrapping, driving and other duties will be needed.
The warehouse is at 12345 121 Street and you will also be able to drop off toy donations at boxes around the city and here at the station.
