Police will have their eyes on big rigs over the next few days.
Until Thursday EPS will have commercial vehicle checkstops along major roadways in Edmonton.
They'll be watching for overweight and improperly secured loads, faulty equipment, and dangerous or stolen goods. They'll also be checking on the condition of the drivers.
In Spring, commercial vehicle checks stopped 241 vehicles, handed out nearly 600 violations, and towed 28 vehicles. Throughout the inspectiosn, 33% of vehicles passed, while 25% of vehicles needed attention and 42% were declared out of service. (kdr)
