Edmonton Police say a cyclist killed today on Whyte Avenue had clipped a mirror on a vehicle he was trying to pass.
According to witnesses, the 21 year old man tried to duck under the protruding side mirror of a parked pickup. When the cyclist hit the mirror, the bike went out of control, throwing him under the wheels of a cement truck.
The man's name has not been released by EPS, but media outlets have used social media to identify the victim as Isaak Kornelsen. He was a student at the U of A, where he also was a member of the track and field team. . He is Edmonton's 23rd traffic fatality of the year. (gm/tk)
