Lots of moisture and heat this summer have created ideal conditions for farmers as the fall harvest gets rolling.
Swathing has already started in central and southern areas.
"There's swathing going on of the spring wheat, durham, barley and oats, and canola's just started," says David Hennig from Alberta Agriculture. "Over the next couple of weeks, we expect that harvest will be in full swing across the province.
Hennig says bumper crops are expected in most areas thanks to the rain and heat we've had. It won't hurt that crop prices are looking pretty good heading into the fall as well.
Lots of sunny weather in the weekend forecast with highs hitting the thirties will help farmers be able to get out and get some crops in, too. (kdr)
