Edmonton's rival city has been given bragging rights.
Calgary is among the world's top five most livable cities, according to The Economist magazine's annual list.
Vancouver was the highest-ranked Canadian city coming in third, Toronto is fourth and Calgary tied for fifth with Adelaide, Australia.
The only other Canadian city to make the top 50 is Montreal in 16th. Edmonton did not rank in the 140-city survey.
Melbourne topped the list followed by Vienna.
The survey ranks cities based on a number of factors including health care, stability, culture and environment, education and infrastructure. The Economist says it only looked at places where people would want to live or visit. (ks)
