Airdrie RCMP is investigating a fatal two vehicle crash south of Edmonton that took place Saturday afternoon.
A semi-trailer and a pick-up truck collided, when an east-bound pickup truck failed to yield right of way to the semi-trailer. A 56 year old man from Calgary, driving the semi was ejected and died at the scene. Police are not releasing his name at this time.
The 22 year old man driving the pickup truck was transported to hospital and later released without injury. An 18 year old woman passenger was transported to hospital in Calgary by EMS and treated for her injuries.
The intersection of Highway 9 and Highway 566 remained closed for multiple hours on Saturday.
Charges may be considered pending the police investigation. (bu)
