Come cheer on close to 70 future professional rodeo stars at the Canadian National College Finals Rodeo (CNCFR) at the Edmonton EXPO Centre from March 31 – April 2 during Northlands’ 2011 Farm and Ranch Show.

For three wild nights, participants from post-secondary schools across Western Canada will wrangle their way through the six major rodeo events – tie down roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, barrel racing and bull riding. In addition, there will be other events including team roping, goat tying, breakaway roping, and pole bending.

“This is a great way to support our rising rodeo stars,” says Richard L. Andersen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northlands. “Throughout the year, these athletes compete in student-run rodeos on the circuit, and the CNCFR is what they’re training for. You’re not just supporting the rodeo,” says Andersen, “You’re supporting tomorrow's career leaders in all industries, especially agriculture. Northlands is proud to partner with CNCFR.”

This is no junior rodeo! Many of these athletes will go on to complete in Canadian Finals Rodeo action. By cheering on these cowboys and cowgirls, fans are also supporting the Canadian Intercollegiate Rodeo Association, a fully student-run organization for students who compete in rodeo as an extracurricular activity.

CNCFR performances start at 6 p.m. nightly.
