Emmeline Pankurst was one of the founders of the British suffragette movement. She marched in the streets of London, England, went on hunger strikes and was jailed many times in her fight for equal voting rights. In our province, women were declared to be “persons” due to the actions of brave Alberta women known as the “Famous Five.”
They were Emily Murphy, Nellie McClung, Irene Parlby, Louise McKinney and Henrietta Muir Edwards.
Now, many female students are entering traditionally male-dominated trades. From the dining room to the boardroom, join Michelle as she looks at women`s roles today, as the new power houses in business.
