Hall talks rehab, Renney
7pm

5/23/2012

Taylor Hall says his recovery from shoulder surgery is ahead of schedule and he hopes to play in the pre-season this fall.

Hall is almost at the point where he can start shooting pucks.  He plans to start skating in late July.

When Hall does return to action for the Oilers, it'll be under a new head coach.  Tom Renney's contract wasn't renewed.

"I really enjoyed having him as a coach," Hall said.  "He showed you a lot of respect and a lot of gratitude when you really did play well."

Renney was often criticized for not giving young players enough ice time, but Hall doesn't have any complaints.

"He rewarded you with ice time and opportunity," Hall explained.  "There were times when for sure I wanted to on the ice more.  But if you really look at it, my average ice time was right where I wanted it to be."

Hall is coming off a season that saw him rack up 53 points in 61 games.  (jrw)
