The Edmonton Oilers have signed free-agent centre Brad Moran to a one-year contract.
The 31-year-old from Abbotsford, BC, scored 14 goals and had 40 points in 55 games with Skelleftea HC of the Swedish Elite League last season, his third overseas.
Moran was drafted 191st overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 1998 and has spent most of his career in the American Hockey League, suiting up for the Syracuse Crunch and the Manitoba Moose over his eight AHL seasons. His best year came in 2007-08 when he scored 22 goals and added 55 assists for the Moose in 74 games and he has reached the 70-point plateau three times since 2004.
In eight career NHL games with Columbus and Vancouver, Moran has one goal and three points. (jk, CP)
