Given all the talk that stemmed from its controversial ending, one might expect an increase next year.
But, U.S. sports network Versus is reporting a lower viewing audience for Sunday's Honda Indy Edmonton. The network says the race attracted 781,000 viewers, down from about 846,000 for last year's race.
The 8% dip in the numbers is contrary to support the network has been getting for Indy Car coverage in 2010. Versus says the six races it's shown this year, including Edmonton's, has attracted 16% more viewers compared to the same six in 2009.
The Honda Indy Edmonton has produced all the talk in the motorsports world, after Scott Dixon won it. The 2008 champ never led a lap, but emerged victorious after race officials ruled that Helio Castroneves be penalized for a blocking infraction, bumping him from first place down to 10th.(bp)
