Last spring the police chief warned of a crack down on the LRT. This past week we've seen it in effect.
Uniformed constables have been seen in Clareview station and others, checking for proof of payment.
"We've been able to take some enforcement action for sure." says Glen Dennis, the Security Operations coordinator for ETS says they've teamed with the EPS Community Action Team in order to provide high visibility and other enforcement in the LRT.
"We've gotten very positive feedback from our patrons indicating that its nice to see them on line and its certainly nice to see the visible presence now."
Details on arrest numbers could be compiled later this week. The program has been in effect a little over a week now. (sj,blb)
