City council will get a more detailed report on the use of sirens on fire trucks.
Councillor Jane Batty had asked if something could be done overnight because of several noise complaints.
She's received plenty of emails -- first criticizing her for not recognizing the need for them, followed by the other side of the argument saying more discretion is needed.
"I received quite a number of really interesting emails from people that talked about reports that had been put out by the Department of Transportation in respect to what they concern a bit of a violation for overuse of the sirens," she says.
Batty is hoping they'll bring back some new technologies that can work overnight including an enhanced management system for traffic lights.
Until then, the city says the sirens are needed for liability reasons. (sj,blb)
