Eskimos linebacker J.C. Sherritt is the CFL's defensive player of the month for July.
After five games, Sherritt leads the league with 41 tackles. He's on pace for 148, which would set a new CFL record. Toronto's Calvin Tiggle set the current record of 129 in 1994.
Sherritt has twice been named player of the week this season. In 2011, he was the West Division nominee for rookie of the year. (jrw)
