Canada erupted for three bronze medals in a span of about 90 minutes on day four of competition in London.
The trifecta was wrapped up when weightlifter Christine Girard won her match in the women's 63-kilogram event. The podium finishes began when Quebecers Roseline Filion and Meaghan Benfeito took third place in the women's 10-metre synchro diving. It comes two days after Emilie Heymans and Jennifer Abel captured bronze in three-metre synchro.
In between, Antoine Valois-Fortier of Quebec City won the second bronze in men's 81-kilogram judo by defeating an American opponent. It is Canada's first medal in judo since Nicholas Gill of Montreal won silver in Sydney and a bronze in Barcelona. Gill is Valois-Fortier's coach in London. (sj, bd)
