The Oilers have hired Rick Carriere as their Senior Director of Player Development.  Carriere, 53, is an Edmonton native and University of Alberta grad.  He was the general manager of the WHL's Medicine Hat Tigers from 2000 to 2004.  Since then, he'd been scouting for the Tigers.

He replaces Billy Moores, who is retiring from the position at the end of this year's development camp.  Moores will remain with the Oilers as a consultant.

Carriere played for the U of A Golden Bears from 1981 to 1985 where he was coached by Moores and Clare Drake.  He then was Perry Pearn's assistant coach at NAIT from 1985 to 1989.  He then became the Ooks head coach for the 1989/90 season. (jrw)
