Less than two months after taking the U of A Golden Bears basketball team to a CIS silver medal, head coach Greg Francis has resigned.
Francis is moving closer to home to become the head basketball coach at the University of Waterloo.
Francis coached the Golden Bears for three seasons, taking over from Don Horwood. Horwood had coached the team for 26 seasons.
2011-12 was Francis' most successful season in Edmonton. The Bears won the Canada West championship and made it all the way to the national final before falling to Carleton.
The U of A has started the search for a new basketball coach. (jrw)
