The Edmonton Oil Kings picked a goaltender, a forward, and a defenceman in today's WHL bantam draft.
With the 22nd overall pick, the Oil Kings took goalie Patrick Dea from the St. Albert Bantam AAA Sabres. Dea had a 2.96 GAA and .920 save percentage this past season.
"We've watched him a lot throughout the year. Especially when they played teams higher than them, he always kept them in the game or won a couple of games on his own," said Oil Kings director of player personnel Randy Hansch. "We realize that there are some special qualities there."
With the 40th overall pick, the Oil Kings took centre Andrew Koep from the Lloydminster Heat. He had 62 points in 31 games.
The Oil Kings then took defenceman Jesse Mills out of Westside, B.C. with the 88th overall pick. Mills is 6'4" and 188 pounds. (jrw)
