Another player has been added to the Edmonton Eskimos receiving corps with the addition today of speedster Yamon Figurs out of Kansas State. Figurs was a third round draft pick, 74th overall in the 2007 NFL draft by the Baltimore Ravens, he has played in 34 games with 6 different NFL teams over the last five seasons.
Figurs recorded the fastest 40 yard sprint at the 2007 NFL combine at 4.31 seconds, he finished his college career with 2,275 all purpose yards (1,144 receiving yards on 73 receptions), and earned first team All Big 12 Honors as a return specialist averaging close to 15 yards a punt return.
Eskimos GM Eric Tillman says that his speed will set him apart from others, “He’ll be one of the fastest guys in the CFL, and will inject the big time speed dimension we’ve been seeking “
Figurs is 29 years old and stands 5’11’’ and 175 pounds, he will be among several other newly signed receivers, including CFL established Cary Koch and Gregg Carr coming to training camp.
