The Eskimos have signed free agent non-import offensive lineman Simeon Rottier to a multi-year contract.
Rottier, 28, was drafted first overall by Hamilton in 2009 and played 44 games over three seasons with the Tiger-Cats. He's a native of Westlock, Alberta, who enjoyed a standout career at the University of Alberta.
Rottier was released by Hamilton earlier this week. He would have been a free agent on February 16 and had shown no interest in re-signing with the Tiger-Cats.
Rottier says, "Being able to return to Alberta and play for the Eskimos in front of their incredible fans fulfills a lifelong dream of mine. The Eskimos have a very bright future, and I'm excited to be a part of it. I'd also like to thank the entire Hamilton Tiger-Cats organization for their support during my time there."
Rottier is 6'6" and 295 pounds. (jrw)
