With the Edmonton Eskimos needing to pair their roster down to manageable numbers, the club released five players.
Gone are veteran defensive back Kelly Malveaux along with fellow DB's Lamar Herron and Bradley Robinson.
Veteran defensive tackle Jerome Haywood and veteran offensive lineman Garrick Jones were also given their walking papers.

The Edmonton Eskimos announce today that they have signed import
defensive end Kenneth Pettway.
The Texas native has spent the past five years in the NFL with three different teams.
He was originally drafted by the Houston Texans.
The Grambling State University graduate has registered a career total of 18 tackles, three quarterback sacks and one forced fumble.

The Edmonton Eskimos have traded import wide receiver Maurice Mann to the Hamilton Tiger-Cat for 2008 Eastern Division and CFL All-star defensive back Chris Thompson.
Its Thompson's second stint in Edmonton after playing in the second half of the 2007 seasons. Thompson last season recorded 49 defensive tackles, two pass knockdowns, one blocked kick, and one interception returned for a touchdown.
"Chris is a CFL All-Star that can play multiple positions within the secondary," says Eskimo General Manager and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia. "He has proven to be one of the better defensive backs in the CFL and we are excited to see what he brings to our team."
Mann picked up 917 yards receiving on 73 receptions and scoring six touchdowns in 15 games in 2009 for Edmonton.

Ricky Ray will have two more targets to choose from this coming C-F-L season.
The Eskimos have picked up veteran receiver Andre Talbot from the Toronto Argonauts, as part of a three-player deal. The Esks also get little-known Brad Smith in the package. Both are Canadians.
In return, Edmonton gives up import defensive tackle Eric Taylor.

The Edmonton Eskimos have signed veteran Canadian linebacker Javy Glatt.
Eskimo General Manager and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says, "Javier is a proven commodity in the CFL, he's experienced, tough and will be a very positive addition to our defence".
Glatt spent his first seven seasons with the B.C. Lions becoming the team's starting middle linebacker and winning a Grey Cup in 2006.
Last season, Glatt played in all 18 games and two playoff games but starting in only five games. Glatt recorded 53 defensive tackles, 13 special teams tackles, two quarterback sacks, two interceptions, two tackles for losses, one fumble recovery, one pass knockdown.
