Edmonton Eskimos middle linebacker J.C. Sherritt has been named the CFL's Defensive Player of the Week.
Sherritt recorded seven defensive tackles and picked up his first career interception as the Eskimos beat the Saskatchewan Roughriders 28-20 last Friday.
"It's an honour to get that award and I think really this week, more than anything a team award", Sherritt said. "Guys like T.J. (Hill) and Weldon (Brown), they bailed me out a couple of times on those missed tackles. I don't know how I won it but I'm happy I did, and that's just the credit to our defense."
It's the third time this season Sherritt has won the the Defensive Player of the Week award. He also won Defensive Player of the Month for July.
