The Manitoba government says it will start paying for a drug to treat wet macular degeneration, an eye disease that can cause blindness.
The province will start covering Lucentis as of June 1.
There will be no cost and no deductible to access Lucentis through the eye care program at Misericordia hospital.

Lucentis was the only drug that was helping her see.
Chiaramello, who works as an Italian translator, was forced to pay for the treatment herself at about $1,000 per injection. She says the coverage will be a huge help.
