The city of Winnipeg is offering incentives for contractors to finish road or bridge construction jobs earlier. Councillor Scott Fielding tells CJOB they're showing them the money.
Fielding says though it costs a bit more in the long run, the trade-off of a smoother city drive is worth it.
The heavy construction industry has voiced concerns about labour issues and safety but it still makes sense to finish some of these jobs more quickly.
Fielding says he hasn't received any complaints from residents because the construction is happening on more main, non-residential streets.
